"Building & Managing a UAS Program"

Ready for the sixth part in our Decision-Making Drone Use webinar series?

The Decision-Making Drone Use series is a collection of webinars that puts a spotlight on specific use cases of drones within Public Safety. The goal is to educate and teach about new possibilities and successful use cases. You’ll hear the stories of how accomplished drone pilots and programs use the information learned from drones to make life saving decisions quickly in the field to protect the public. This series is presented free of charge and is hosted by Nine Ten Drones, Insight Fire Training, FLIR Systems and FoxFury Lighting Solutions.

Part 6 – “Building & Managing a UAS Program”

Previously Recorded Webinars

"Stolen Vehicle"

Recently we were joined by Bruce Sandy, UAS Program Manager with Pender County Fire & EMS. Bruce discussed the negative impact winds have on the performance and flight time of a UAS, specifically the M200 series drone. During an off-shore training exercise Pender County pilots had a drone go down in the ocean after high winds depleted the UAS batteries before reaching its recovery point on land.

"Success Stories w/ SkyeBrowse"

During this webinar you will learn how your teams can integrate drones into their current workflows in order to decrease collection time in the field while increasing situational awareness. Once a location has been processed/mapped in SkyeBrowse it is preserved forever allowing only authorized individuals to revisit the scene as many times as needed.

"Building a Public Safety UAS Program"

Now that you have a solid understanding of the drone hardware, software and operational procedures associated with drone use in Public Safety it’s time to develop your department’s UAS team. In this capstone webinar we will be covering the following topics – Flight Operations Manual(SOGs/SOPs), Pilot Certification, Part 107 and COAs, Hardware & Software Purchases and Training

"UAS in HazMat Response Operations"

While hazardous materials response is not new, the integration of drone technology into HazMat and the capabilities of those drones to provide reliable and real-time information to responders is new. Drones are more efficient and more effective at performing down-range reconnaissance. Drones save the lives of responders and the public when they are used properly for the collection of information and decision-making.

"Integrating UAS in Fire Service"

We will be discussing Integrating UAS in the Fire Service from the following perspectives: Life Safety: Testimonies, experiences, and knowledge in locating victims from emergency scenes such as fires, accidents, etc.  Size-up: We will discuss this in-depth from the following perspectives: – Single Family Dwellings – Multi-family Multi-story buildings (apartment buildings, mixed use, etc) – Large Scale Commercial Fire Incidents

"Drones in Disaster Response"

Every year hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and various other natural and manned made disasters have a negative impact on our entire planet. When these kind of events occur the damage is almost always widespread and severe. During this event you will get insightful information regarding what hardware, software and operational procedures are helping UAS programs add value during the most critical time for public safety organizations.

"Integrating UAS in Law Enforcement"

During this live 60 minute webinar and Q&A we will be getting into the details of how law enforcement agencies around the country are leveraging drones. Drones are used in everything from high pressure tactical situations where split second decisions need to be made to investigations and documentation where evidence needs to be carefully collected as they only have one chance to get the job done.

"Mapping & 3D Modeling with Drones"

This event is in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. This webinar introduces participants to how drone maps and 3D models are being used across various commercial industries. We will discuss how to integrate mapping and 3D modeling into the classroom. There will also be a demonstration of live model capture and processing. During this event we will be diving into the following topics: Live Mapping Demonstration, Planning & Preparation, Mission Execution, Processing & Analysis

"Drones in Power Transmission & Distribution"

This event is in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. During this webinar participants will be introduced to the following topics: How electric/utility companies and cooperatives are leveraging unmanned aircraft systems to support operations. Hardware and software solutions are being used. Current and future career pathways and what companies look for in new hires.

"Current Drones: The Good, The Great, The Okay"

This event is in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. During the webinar we will highlight the current sUAS platforms that are being leveraged commercially, to include delivery drones and pilotless air taxis. We will be discussing how educators can integrate current commercial off the shelf drones into the classroom.
