Build Your Drone Engineering & Manufacturing Program

Learn Build Connect pairs real, flight-ready aircraft with a guided teaching portal — so students build, calibrate, and fly actual UAS platforms while educators teach with confidence, oversight, and a clear path from theory to first flight.

How It Works: Learn, Build, Connect

A guided pathway from aviation theory to aircraft assembly, calibration, safety checks, and first-flight readiness — built into every Learn Build Connect portal.

Learn

Ten structured Learn topics cover both the F120 and F450 tracks, with knowledge checks and completion tracking so instructors always know where each student stands before tools come out.

Build

Twelve guided build chapters per platform walk students through real kit photography and step-by-step build sequences — frame, motors, flight controller, and electronics — so they’re assembling an actual aircraft, not a simulation.

Connect

Live connection and calibration workflows — MAVLink pairing, GPS/compass calibration, motor testing, and mission planning — carry students from a finished build to a pre-flight-ready aircraft.

Built for Two Audiences

For Teachers — Instruction + Oversight

  • Guided lessons, real kit photography, and build sequences instructors can teach from directly
  • Built-in knowledge checks, safety routines, and calibration workflows
  • Account approval, roles, and announcements for classroom control
  • Progress dashboards and missed-question insight to catch gaps early
  • CSV exports and printable resources for grading and records

For Students — Industry, Careers & Engaging Learning

  • Students build and troubleshoot real aircraft instead of only reading about them
  • Interactive checks and visible progress keep learning active
  • Industry examples connect coursework to U.S. manufacturers and real UAS careers
  • Direct ties to public safety, inspection, agriculture, logistics, and autonomy career paths

The Aircraft

Assembled F450 quadcopter built in the Nine Ten Drones UAS program

F120 Micro UAS — Under 250 Grams

A 120-class beginner platform with 12 guided build chapters and all required tooling included. Students assemble the frame, brushless motors, video module, flight controller, propellers, and remote control, finishing with pre-flight inspection and first power-up calibration.

F450 Small UAS — Under 55 Lbs

A 450-class Pixhawk platform with 12 guided build chapters and all required tooling included. Students work with a Pixhawk 2.4.8, GPS/compass, radio system, power module, and 3S LiPo platform — then complete MAVLink connection, motor testing, calibration, mission planning, and flight checks.

Together, the F120 and F450 create a beginner-to-advanced progression for programs that want to grow with their students.

Built on North Carolina's UAS Roots

Nine Ten Drones was founded in Holly Springs, NC in 2017 to serve the state’s fast-growing UAS community, and that same regional focus shapes Learn Build Connect. Our curriculum, kits, and educator support are built by a team embedded in North Carolina’s drone industry, giving classrooms a direct line to the same expertise we bring to commercial and public-sector UAS programs across the Southeast.
